An Improved Baiting Method for Isolation of Keratinophilic Fungi

Abstract
In order to isolate the keratinophilic fungi from the soil, 7x10cm vinyl envelope were used in which 10 rhomboid shaped holes (1 x 1cm) were made, so that when the human scalp hairs as baiting material were laid out straight in the envelope, the keratinophilic fungi would be baited to the open part of the hairs in envelope burried in the soil.
The hairs used in the envelope were autoclaved and burried in the 6 different places for 20 days in Kyungpook National University- Hospital campus from April 1967 to September 1967.
The author¢¥s newly improved baiting method with the hairs in the vinyl envelope was simple and the results were more satisfactory for isolating keratinophilic fungi compared with the original Vanbreuseghem¢¥s hair baiting method.
